Cymbomute Pro360º finally on sale!

Posted by Hugh Lawrence on

Yesterday was a day I'd been waiting for for around 8 months! I pushed the "big green button" and went live with Cymbomute Pro360º. Check it out - it has a silicone bumper to accept stick impact. The idea was based on customer feedback, and that I'm constantly seeking ways to improve cymbomute (Kaizen). Some customers (who are much more heavy handed than I) were playing through their mutes more quickly than anticipated. Some of this may be attributable to too much aggrression, or incorrect technique, however - this does not mean I ignore the feedback - far from it....

Why practicing on electric drums basically sucks

Posted by Hugh Lawrence on

It's such a common "solution" to drum practice - buy an electric kit. This way you can plug headphones in, stay up when the kids are in bed, and work on getting ready for the next rehearsal or performance, right? Wrong! NEW! Cymbomute WIDE RIDE™ - it's big, well...WIDE!

Posted by Hugh Lawrence on

We are so proud to finally announce our new cymbal mute! The cymbomute WIDE RIDE™ has taken months of development - our material makers had to work hard on the challenge of 100mm wide, but they've nailed it, and the result is superb. We've always felt that for larger cymbals it would be nice to have a choice as to how much ring you want to kill and now you have the choice. The standard mute will do just as good a job as ever - or you can now choose the WIDE RIDE to attenuate even further. We even had fun...

Back in the woodshed

Posted by Hugh Lawrence on

A family holiday last week meant a week without practice, and you know what that means: A week without practice makes one weak... So, today, back in the practice room for a mix of full acoustic practice and some "padded up" practice. As a busy man with a business to run I no longer enjoy the luxury of many hours per day, so I divide my routine into separate sections: I start with a practice pad and warm my hands up while doing something with my feet (perhaps a samba pattern for example), this way I am physically warmed up...
